Its housing is nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed for water and fogproof performance in all weather. The sight features 1/2 MOA shot correction to put you on-target, with a 100 MOA windage and elevation adjustment range that lets you compensate for most terrain and conditions. The sight has a 4 MOA red/green dot with ten brightness levels, two of which work with night vision, for easy aiming on your target. Vortex 1x30 StrikeFire II Red/Green Dot Sight with Cantilever Mount is an unmagnified optic designed for quick target acquisition and tracking from dawn to dusk. Just a little life experience that might help you make a decision.Vortex 1x30 StrikeFire II 4 MOA Red/Green Dot Lower 1/3 Co-Witness Cantilever Mount - SF-RG-501 The lesson I learned was to save your money and purchase high quality products. The accessories that didn't fail were all the more expensive name brand gear. I would also say there were lots of equipment failures thru week. The remainder of the class was very intense and attempted to recreated the mental and physical stresses of a gun fight. Needless to say I was very disappointed and frustrated. I was forced to complete the remainder of the course with BUIS. After firing less than 300 rounds the sparc failed and the red dot began jumping around. ![]() The course started out pretty slow with very little shooting the first day and some slow speed drills the morning of the second day. I mounted the sparc and sighted it in, it had good FOV and I thought it was going to work nicely. I have been a vortex fan for a long time and have several other vortex optics. I purchased a Vortex Sparc because I couldn't really afford an aimpoint. I just completed a 4 day tactical rifle class. get the best you can afford and you will NOT have made a poor decision. I just have too darn many weapons that I want optics on and cannot afford top tier stuff on them all. It is true that if you can afford Aimpoint, Trijicon, etc. I'm only giving my perspective based on my experience with mine over the years. I don't want anything to think I'm bashing or discrediting your thoughts on it. I just wanted to point out that the red/green version is not worthless. The OP asked "Thoughts on Vortex StrikeFire II" and he's well aware of the Aimpoint Pro. Now if you compare it side by side with a "brighter red dot" version then of course a "brighter red dot" would be. I remember when people were complaining, I bought mine during that time and paid attention to see what people were complaining about. My red/green StrikeFire has worked fine for me outdoor on bright summer days. Vortex came out with the red only version which has brighter top settings so I don't know how anyone could complain. I've never had any issues with it under any circumstances. ![]() I don't know why anyone would say the red/green version is worthless. You never have to worry when you own a Vortex product because they guarantee it for as long as the item exists. I have 3 Vortex StrikeFires (red/green) and one one Vortex SPARC (red only) and they all work great. If the OP can swing a PRO, then why try and steer him/her towards a product, that is inferior in every way? The lifetime warranty Vortex offers is the only thing they have on Aimpoint, but Aimpoint's 10 year warranty is good enough, if you ask me.besides, with Aimpoint.I doubt you will ever need that warranty. My first Aimpoint is still running on it's original batteries, and I keep it on all the time. I finally got sick of it and sold it, and bought my first Aimpoint.never even looked back. I owned the red only version, and yes it was much better, but with that was a hassle trying to keep batteries in the thing.ever time I would put my weapon in my hard gun case, or would get bumped on.it got to the point that I would have to remove the battery before I put my weapon away. I stand by my assessment, any rds that can't be used effectively in the brightness, of a sunny day, is worthless. In an e-mail to Vortex about the issue, they told me that it was impossible to make it brighter due to the diode running multiple colors, so I doubt anything has changed since then. I understand that your strikefire probably works fine indoors, at night, or on an overcast day, but in bright sun.it doesn't stack up. Instead of doing the logical thing, and come out with a brighter green only version, they keep selling the dim red/green version. What does Vortex do, knowing they have a problem.they come out with a red only version, and market it as "bright red version". He took it back to Cabela's, and looked threw 2 more, that were the same, so he bought an Eotech. My brother owned one for 2 or 3 days, and we couldn't barely even see the dot out side, yes it was a bright day.but still. I'll tell you why I said they are worthless. ![]()
